Dino-madness! T-Rex Costumes Fill Racing Track
Date: July 2, 2025 | Location: Portland, Oregon
It was a scene straight out of a prehistoric comedy movie — over 200 people in inflatable T-Rex costumes charged down a racing track in Portland, Oregon, turning a typical summer day into a Jurassic-sized spectacle.
Dubbed the “Dino Dash 2025,” the event was organized to raise money for children’s hospitals, but quickly went viral online for its bizarrely delightful visuals: clumsy dinosaurs tripping, toppling, and tumbling while roaring in laughter.
From Chaos to Roars of Laughter
The race began with a classic “Ready, Set, Roar!” and immediately descended into comedic chaos. Spectators were treated to the sight of T-Rexes bouncing off one another, losing their inflatable tails, and even performing cartwheels.
“It’s the most fun I’ve had in a costume since Halloween 1998,” said one participant, still panting through her T-Rex snout.
Children cheered from the sidelines while some joined in wearing miniature dino suits. Even the event staff wore safari gear to complete the theme.
Why T-Rex? Why Not!
According to the event creator, local comedian Dave Larny, the inspiration came from “a dream where dinosaurs had their own Olympics.”
“Why not combine comedy, cardio, and charity?” he added, laughing as he adjusted his fan-powered dino suit.
What’s Next?
With videos of the event spreading rapidly on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram under the hashtag #TRexRace, organizers are already planning a nationwide Dino Dash tour — with stops in Austin, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
Proceeds from ticket sales, merchandise, and live streams will go to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
This event proves that with a little imagination (and a lot of air), the world is ready to embrace the silly side of fitness and fundraising.
